This cross-border performance connected two families — Bolun Shen and his daughter Noe in Beijing, Nina Hatami and her son Aria in Tehran — in a reading of reworked love poems. The children alternate to read to each other across the screen, guided by their parents.
12 adapted texts, drawn from traditional Chinese and Iranian sources — including nationalistic poems, poems from elementary school textbooks, military anthems, and verses by Ruhollah Khomeini — served as the script.
The event was streamed live on May 31, 2025, with audiences joining remotely. It took place at CACHE Space in Beijing and in a private home in Tehran.
Unintentionally, the performance fell just days before politically charged anniversaries in both countries: June 4, 1989. In China, the date marks the Tiananmen Square crackdown. June 3, 1989, was the day of Ruhollah Khomeini's death, and June 4 has since been designated as his official day of commemoration. Coincidences extended further — Bolun Shen was born in 1989, and Nina Hatami was born on June 4.
